Timing Is Everything?

February 4, 2011

We have been missing a library DVD for over a week now. I have hunted high and low. The kids have searched everywhere. Even my husband has scoured the usual and unusual places it could be.

It’s a big deal because we would have to pay for the replacement of the whole DVD. I had been praying and praying for God’s help to find it so we wouldn’t have to pay that! It’s a particular frustration because we are going to be out of town and are running out of time to find it.

I was praying again this morning, since now is our last chance to find it, and decided to relook all the places we had already looked again. I lifted up a stack of books we had looked under numerous times – and I found it!

The name of the DVD is Time. I stood up after discovering it and just shook my head. We sure don’t always understand God’s timing (or even where it is!) but we do know that He knows exactly when it’s the right time for things.

This is the update Lionel posted last night about what is happening with Giving Anonymously:

“We are so thankful to everyone that donated towards our WA State license. Just over $7000 was raised. We felt supported and encouraged. Thank you so much.

Because of our inability to meet the requirements we have decided to petition WA State for a change in GA’s classification and will be filing the first part of our petition Friday Feb 4th.

Based on what we hear back from the State we may ask those of you who gave to GA permission to use your designated gifts to cover other costs such as legal fees which may arise from petitioning the State.

We would appreciate your prayers as we request a reversal of the State’s decision to classify GA as they have.

Please contact us if you have any questions.”

This is one of those times I wish I could yank on God’s sleeve and ask for a little more detail – but instead I am remembering He knows exactly what time is the right time for everything.

I read last night that there is a plaque in Jerusalem on an olive tree in the Garden of Gethsemane. It was put there by the Darmstadt Sisters of Mary and the last line of it reads: “I cannot understand what Thou art about but in Thee do I put my trust.”

We’re trusting Him.

“As For God, His ways are perfect! And all His ways are just.”

~ from Psalm 18

Thanks for sharing. You guys are being the Body of Christ in so many ways. Your Faithfulness is an inspiration. God needs more people to act like the Body of Christ. Thanks for setting the bar!

Thanks for this – very relevant to our lives right now. Sometimes it is very hard to understand or be patient and trust God’s timing. But He authored this journey for us. It has a purpose. I am praying for eyes to see and ears to hear what it is He wants out of this season.
